Short history of the building
The Gencsy family is mentioned as a landowner in the history of Ilișua for the first time in 1586. Later, starting from the 17th century, the family owned the whole village for more than 150 years. The impressive manor house built most probably in the 18th century, is located in the vicinity of the local Protestant Church. After the nationalization, the manor hosted several state institutions, which let the building to deteriorate.Access
Ilișua is located at 30 km north-east of Zalău towards Satu Mare. The easiest way to reach Ilișua from the direction of Zalău, is through following the national road E81 until Sălăjeni, then by turning left on the communal road nr. 110B which takes you to Ilișua. The manor house lies in the center of the village, close to the Protestant Church.
